The Conwell-Egan Catholic High School community welcomes Mr. Joshua Bower as its new Assistant Principal for Academic Affairs. Bower fills the position vacated by Mr. Matthew Fischer, who became the school’s principal in October. Bower comes to Conwell-Egan Catholic by way of Thomas A. Edison High School, which is part of the School District of Philadelphia. During his time at Edison, from September 2012 to the present, Bower held a variety of responsibilities, which included Health/PE teacher, Athletic Director, Dean of Students, and most recently Assistant Roster Chair and SIS Coach. Prior to his time at Edison, Bower spent three years at Andrew Hamilton Elementary School in Philadelphia.

Bower was very active outside of the school day during his time at Edison. He served as the wrestling coach for many years, as well as the boys’ soccer coach and an assistant baseball coach. He had assistant baseball coaching stints at Monsignor Bonner High School and most recently at LaSalle College High School. Bower also played a pivotal role in organizing teams and events for Special Olympics Unified Sports.

Bower holds a B.S. in Kinesiology from Temple University and his M.A. from Concordia University Irvine. He currently resides in Flourtown, PA with his wife, Rabiya, and daughter, Amira (5). His first day at Conwell-Egan Catholic is slated for December 5.
