CEC Names Tyrone Lewis New Head Boys Basketball Coach

(MAY 4, 2022) FAIRLESS HILLS, PA – Conwell-Egan Catholic High School (CEC) is pleased to announce that Tyrone Lewis has accepted an offer to become Head Coach of its Boys Basketball team.

Coach Lewis comes to CEC after a four-year stint as the Head Coach at Truman High School in Levittown. Before his time at Truman, Lewis was a member of the Niagara University Men’s Basketball staff, serving as their Director of Operations from 2015-2018. Prior to that, he was the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Bristol Borough High School for two seasons, leading the Warriors to two Bicentennial League championships and advancing to the state tournament both years. Lewis also previously served as an assistant on the sidelines at Widener University and Bensalem High School.

“We are thrilled to have Tyrone join CEC as our new head coach. He brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to the team and CEC community,” said CEC Athletic Director Patrick Donlen.

Coach Lewis is a former student-athlete of Truman where he played at the varsity level from 2002-2006. He continued his playing career at Niagara University, becoming the first freshman in conference history to earn MAAC Tournament MVP honors, and earned First-Team All-MAAC and MAAC Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2009. Lewis led Niagara to 26 wins in 2008-2009, the second-most in program history. Lewis enjoyed two seasons overseas, playing professionally in Israel and Germany from 2010-2012.

Coach Lewis currently works as an Admissions Counselor at ProMedica in Philadelphia, PA and resides in Levittown, PA with his wife and three children.

“This is the opportunity of a lifetime. I am very honored to join the CEC team and work with these student-athletes,” said Lewis. “I look forward to adding to an already excellent legacy and competing in the Philadelphia Catholic League.”
