Matthew Fischer '04 Appointed Next CEC President

Dear Members of the Conwell-Egan Catholic High School Community,

I hope you and your families are well during these early weeks of summer. In May, I wrote to share that Mr. Thomas Lynch (CEC ’72), President of Conwell-Egan Catholic High School (CEC) and Chair of the Board of Trustees expressed his intention to step down as President of Conwell-Egan. Mr. Lynch will continue to serve as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. We are deeply grateful to Mr. Lynch for his invaluable leadership in his role as President over the past four years.

Since that time, the Office of Catholic Education (OCE), in conjunction with CEC’s Board of Trustees, launched a search process to identify the next President of the school.

Today, it gives me great pleasure to announce that Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez has approved the recommendation made by OCE, along with CEC’s Board of Directors, to appoint Mr. Matthew Fischer as your next school President effective July 3, 2023.

Mr. Fischer, a proud alumnus of CEC (Class of 2004) has been a vital part of your school administration for the past seven years, most recently serving as Principal of CEC. Prior to that role, he was the Assistant Principal for Academic Affairs. He started his career in education with the School District of Philadelphia where he taught Social Studies and was the Roster Chairperson at Thomas A. Edison High School and the John C. Fareira Skills Center. Mr. Fischer has demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing the mission of Catholic education with proven results throughout his career at CEC.

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Widener University and a Master of Education Degree in Education Leadership from Concordia University.

Please know of our continued gratitude for the sacrifices you make to provide the gift of a Catholic education to your sons and daughters and for your ongoing support of CEC.

Join me in extending prayerful congratulations and best wishes to Mr. Fischer as he prepares to begin in his new role as President of CEC and know of my prayers for you and your families during these summer months.
