This weeks featured guest is CEC Guidance Counselor Mrs. Jenny Diamond!
What is your favorite thing about being a teacher/counselor?
My favorite thing about being a counselor is being an adult that the students can come and talk to about anything. I love getting to know the students on a different more personal level.
Do you have a teaching/counseling "motto"?
My counseling motto is to "always be kind to one another." - Like Ellen.
What are your goals as a teacher/counselor?
My goal as a counselor is to create a safe environment in school where students feel comfortable to come and talk to me about any of their concerns or struggles that they go through on a daily basis.
What is one thing a teacher said/did that you have never forgotten?
My high school counselor told me I could not get into colleges that I was interested in but I ended up proving him/her wrong and finished my studies at Penn State University.
What is the greatest success you've had in teaching/counselor?
The greatest success that I have had in counseling is being the person that students or families could confide in, forming a trusting relationship, and helping them solve their problems on their own.
What are you currently reading for enjoyment?
Over break I read two books and started a third:
What is a little-known/unique fact about you?
I went to four universities to complete my bachelors and masters degrees.
I also love to cook and host parties/gatherings.
Mrs. Diamond holds a Bachelors of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from Penn State University, a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Holy Family University, and Certification in K-12 School Counseling.
